Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas is backing Sonara Health, a startup methadone medication management system.
Sonara Health raised $3 million in seed round funding from the insurer and First Trust Capital Partners, an investment firm whose portfolio includes several healthcare startups, according to an Oct. 4 news release.
Mark Cuban, billionaire entrepreneur and owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, was one of the first investors in the platform.
The startup, founded in 2020, is building a remote methadone treatment management platform to allow patients to take the medication at home. Methadone, used to treat opioid use disorder, is typically administered in a clinic, the release said.
