BCBS of Michigan sues prison contractor for $3.4M

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is suing prison healthcare contractor Corizon Healthcare for more than $3.4 million in services the insurer claims it was not paid for , Law Street Media reported July 15. 

The payer processed medical claims for prisoners at 30 Michigan correctional facilities serviced by Corizon, according to the report. 

Blue Cross and Corizon's contract began in December 2015 and was terminated by Corizon in September 2021, according to the report. 

The payer alleges that Corizon is responsible for reimbursing Blue Cross for all claims incurred before termination of the contract. Blue Cross is seeking a total of $3,410,136.51 in reimbursement.
