The change to BCBS of Alabama’s pharmacy network, effective Jan. 1, is a result of increasing prescription drug costs, according to the report.

The insurer told its members that to capitalize on their health benefits, they should transfer medications to an in-network pharmacy. Affected policyholders include those with individual and employer health plans.
