Blue Cross said the move means it can exchange up to three times more data with network providers for case disease management, utilization review, medical appeals, medication therapy management and quality of care tracking, according to a June 3 news release.

The company has connected to more than 500 providers through the platform, and nearly 70% of the company’s members see a provider using Epic.

Blue Cross said it plans to expand Epic connections to more providers through 2024.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
