The insurer’s exit from 16 of California’s 19 pricing regions will affect about 153,000 members, or roughly half its enrollment in the state’s Covered California marketplace.
Roughly 10 percent of Covered California enrollees will need to change health plans as a result. However, more than 82 percent of consumers will be able to choose from three or more health plans during open enrollment for 2018.
Eleven health insurers will participate on Covered California next year. The payers will raise premiums 12.5 percent, on average.
