Anthem launches 2 new subsidiaries under Elevance Health

With Anthem rebranding at the end of June to Elevance Health, the payer is launching two new subsidiaries: Carelon and Wellpoint.

Carelon is Anthem's new healthcare services brand that will consolidate the company's existing portfolio of capabilities and services businesses under a single name. Carelon will serve 1 in 3 Americans. Services will range from research to integrated whole-person care delivery, pharmacy and behavioral health; to digital platform and technology services. The transition of Anthem's capabilities and services is expected to take place over the next two years, according to a June 15 news release.

The new Wellpoint health plan brand will unify the company's Medicare, Medicaid and commercial health plans in select markets. Wellpoint's products and services are designed for any age of consumer looking to make better care decisions and will offer access to simple, supportive health solutions that will help foster independence and whole-person health. This transition will take place over the next few years and will not affect affiliated Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Anthem Blue Cross health plans.

"The addition of our new brands to our family of companies will bring together services and products within their respective brands that further integrate our business and health expertise across the industry to solve complex challenges and improve consumers' lives," President and CEO Gail Boudreaux said.
