On Thursday, merger news outlet CTFN asserted Anthem was working with Justice Department officials to “rescue” its proposed $54 billion merger. Anthem spokesperson Bonnie Jacobs said in an email to Reuters CTFN’s report was “not accurate.” The Justice Department did not comment on the report.

A federal appeals court has yet to rule on the companies’ appeal of the DOJ’s decision to block their deal in February.
