“We’ve got over 64,000 providers now engaged in ACOs and patient-centered medical homes who are accountable for cost and quality of care for over 5.5 million commercial members, which is a huge uptick compared to prior years,” Mr. Swedish said, according to Forbes.
The company operates 159 ACOs across the country as part of its move into value-based care, according to the report. Competitors Aetna and UnitedHealth Group are also moving in the same direction, Forbes notes, but Anthem uniquely offered details into its progress in this round of earnings reports.
