Andre Iguodala-funded Players Health acquires health plan broker Life Benefits

Players Health, a youth sports health plan funded by Golden State Warriors star Andre Iguodala, has purchased Dallas-based health insurance brokerage firm Life Benefits to expand health plans for employees in youth sports, according to Sports Business Journal.

The purchase will allow Minneapolis-based Players Health to offer health plans for coaches and administrators who work for youth sports organizations.

Players Health plans include medical, dental and vision as well as an employee assistance program, employer-sponsored life insurance, short and long-term disability, and 401(k) options. Players Health software can also be used to submit athletes' injuries, report abuse, share coaching educational content, and organize credential processes for coaches and staff.

"Life Benefits' three decades of insurance experience strengthens our team and mission of supporting the ever-growing amateur sports landscape with intuitive technology and solutions," Players Health Group President Naveen Anand said in a statement to SBJ.
