AmeriHealth Caritas reported a net loss of $199 million in 2024, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported June 11.
AmeriHealth Caritas serves Medicaid enrollees and is jointly owned by Independence Health Group and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
The company reported a $368 million profit in 2023. According to the report, enrollment declined in 2024 and new state Medicaid contracts were not awarded to the company, which resulted in layoffs last year. AmeriHealth’s 2024 revenue increased 3% to $24.3 billion.
