The contract will give AmeriHealth members access to care at University of Iowa Health Care.

University of Iowa Health Care — which consists of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Carver College of Medicine and University of Iowa Physicians — is the only comprehensive academic medical center in the state. The system includes a 730-bed hospital, and operates more than 200 outpatient clinics.

AmeriHealth Caritas Iowa is one of the Medicaid health plans selected to begin Iowa’s IA Health Link program on March 1, 2016. It is part of AmeriHealth Caritas, which has implemented managed care programs throughout the nation.

“This is a winning situation for our members who need these services the most,” said Cheryl Harding, market president for AmeriHealth Caritas Iowa, according to the press release.
