Aetna and N.Y.-based St. Joseph's Health, a Trinity Health hospital, struck a new in-network contract after temporarily extending the parties' old agreement amid negotiations, according to syracuse.com.
A range of Trinity Health hospitals, including St. Joseph's Health, brought Aetna to the bargaining table in October. In December, Aetna and the provider extended the parties' contract through Jan. 31 to avoid disrupting care.
The new contract ensures in-network rates for 15,000 patients relying on the 431-bed hospital.
"A national, unified approach enabled us to obtain fair rates ... that reflect the realities of today's healthcare climate," St. Joseph's Health told syracuse.com. "As a result, we are better positioned to continue navigating the lasting impacts of the pandemic while ensuring we can sustainably fulfill our mission to our patients, colleagues and communities for years to come."
