CVS Health will lay off 55 employees who report to Aetna’s headquarters in Hartford, Conn., due to the closure of the payer’s CareFree insurance plan.
“We are sunsetting CareFree operations by the end of this year as part of our work to optimize our core business operations,” a CVS Health spokesperson told Becker’s April 29. “We are working with external agencies to provide assistance, where possible, to facilitate the transition to another field marketing organization’s hierarchy.
The majority of the affected employees work remotely outside of Connecticut, according to an April 24 WARN notice.
The layoffs are expected to begin July 26 and continue through the end of the year, according to the notice. More than half of the affected employees have an expected termination date of Aug. 3.
The spokesperson told Becker’s that those affected have been notified and will be eligible for severance pay, continued benefits and access to outplacement services.
