Under the Hartford, Con.-based insurer’s revised work from home policy, managers living within a 50-mile radius of an Aetna office will be required to work in the office next year to enhance collaboration and innovation. Nonmanagerial employees will also return to offices over time.
Russell McDermott, project manager at CTrides, a commuter service of the Connecticut Department of Transportation, said he does not think larger companies like Aetna shifting employees back to the workplace will encourage other businesses to follow suit.
“I really don’t think it’s going to have a huge impact as to the trends that we’re seeing for teleworking; but again, we do recognize that every company … is going to adjust their policies differently,” Mr. McDermott said, according to the report.
