Here are 5 things to know:
- SimplePay provides members with an exact cost for every covered medical and pharmacy service. Members pay a copay for every service until they reach the out-of-pocket maximum.
- Members receive a monthly statement with all of their medical and pharmacy claims from the previous month. The statement is similar to a credit card statement, according to Aetna, but has no interest.
- No payment is due at the time of provider visit or prescription pickup.
- Around 40% of employers offer low or no-deductible plans, according to Mercer’s “Health and Benefit Strategies for 2024” report.
- Other insurers have introduced no-deductible plans. UnitedHealthcare’s Surest plan, which has no deductible, is its fastest-growing commercial product. Health Care Service Corp., which operates Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in five states, will introduce a plan with upfront out-of-pocket costs and no deductible in December.
