Major insurers have launched their Medicare products for 2025, offering older adults new plan options during the upcoming annual enrollment period from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7.
UnitedHealthcare
UnitedHealthcare will launch 140 new Medicare Advantage plans in 2025, with the company's MA plans reaching 96% of Medicare-eligible consumers.
D-SNPs will expand to reach 135,000 additional dual-eligible consumers and C-SNPs will nearly double to reach 70% of eligible people, which include those living with severe or disabling chronic conditions such as diabetes, chronic heart failure and cardiovascular disease.
The UnitedHealthcare standard plan portfolio will also include new options in select markets that prioritize medical or ancillary benefits, along with a new plan that gives eligible members a quarterly credit that can be used to lower or eliminate out-of-pocket costs for Medicare-covered Parts A and B services.
For 2025, the UCard will transition from a scannable barcode to a magstripe for most plans.
Humana will offer a total of 793 individual Medicare Advantage plans in 2025 across 48 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, covering 89% of U.S. counties. In 2024, the company covered 49 states, D.C., P.R., and covered 94% of U.S. counties.
In 2025, Humana is expanding its Medicare HMO offerings into 12 new counties and its Medicare Advantage LPPO plans in 17 new counties. Humana Full Access PPO plans will expand to 20 states.
Humana USAA Giveback Honor plans will now be available in Washington, D.C. D-SNPs will be offered North Dakota. C-SNPs have expanded to Arizona, Minnesota and New Mexico. I-SNP expansions include Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Mexico, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia.
All Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plan members will have the option to use CenterWell Pharmacy for delivery prescriptions.
For 2025, Aetna will offer MAPD plans in 44 states plus Washington, D.C., compared to 46 states and D.C. in 2024. In total, Aetna will offer MAPD plans in 2,259 counties in 2025, compared to 2,269 counties in 2024. Aetna is also adding 76 new counties across the country, providing 662,000 more Medicare-eligible beneficiaries access to an Aetna plan.
Aetna is expanding D-SNP into Oklahoma and bringing D-SNP PPO plan options to Michigan, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and West Virginia.
Aetna will launch C-SNPs in Chicago, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Aetna C-SNPs are designed to support members with diabetes, chronic heart failure and cardiovascular disease through collaboration with Oak Street Health and other primary care providers.
Aetna will expand Medicare Eagle MA-only plans to 43 states plus D.C. (adding Rhode Island, Maryland and the District of Columbia) and 2,060 counties, which offer additional benefits for veterans or individuals who already have prescription drug coverage.
Current cards (the Aetna Medicare Payment Card and the Aetna Medicare Extra Benefits Card) will be integrated into one card, called the Aetna Medicare Extra Benefits Card. The new card can be used to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses or pay for certain items like healthy foods and OTC products.
Aetna Medicare will merge its three individual PDP products into a single plan called SilverScript Choice PDP, which will be available in all 50 states and D.C.
Elevance Health
In 2025, Elevance Health will offer Medicare Advantage plans to nearly 40.3 million Medicare-eligible consumers across 23 states and Puerto Rico, including 99 additional counties. In 2024, the company offered MA plans in 22 states and P.R.
D-SNP will be offered across 22 states, C-SNP across 14 states and I-SNPs in 4 states.
Centene
Wellcare will offer Medicare Advantage plans in 32 states for 2025, compared to 37 states in 2024.
Nationwide, 102 prescription drug plans will remain available, and Wellcare will offer a $0 premium on the Value Script plan in 43 out of 50 states.
