Aetna Better Health of Illinois paid $20.4 million in value-based incentive payments to 16 community health centers.
The funding is intended to improve quality of care in underserved communities, according to a May 20 news release.
Three things to know:
- The providers will use the funding to modernize operations, implement new population health or data analytics tools and extend clinic hours.
- More than half of Aetna Better Health of Illinois members see providers in value-based care arrangements. Around 1 in 4 providers are in a risk-based model.
- In 2024, value-based arrangements resulted in 8% fewer inpatient admissions, 15% fewer inpatient readmissions and 5% fewer emergency room visits.
Aetna Better Health of Illinois manages Medicaid benefits for more than 360,000 members.
