Elevance Health will exit the small group ACA market in Ohio in 2027, the company confirmed with Becker’s.
“Small businesses are increasingly seeking health coverage options that deliver affordability, flexibility, and more predictable costs,” an Anthem spokesperson said. “To meet those evolving needs, we are investing in solutions that have proven most valuable to Ohio employers, including MEWAs and level-funded plans, which serve a majority of our Ohio small business customers.”
Six other insurers have previously announced they will stop offering ACA marketplace plans, either nationally or in specific states, after the 2026 plan year. The withdrawals come amid declining enrollment nationwide, rising premiums and the expiration of enhanced premium tax credits at the end of 2025.
