In 22 states and Washington, D.C., there will be fewer Medicare Advantage plans available in 2025 than in 2024, according to CMS data.
In a Sept. 28 news release, CMS said Medicare Advantage premiums and benefit offerings would remain stable in 2025.
Major insurers, including Humana, CVS Health, Cigna and Centene, said they would exit some Medicare Advantage markets in 2025, facing rising medical costs and lowered reimbursements from CMS.
Pennsylvania will see the largest number of plan exits in 2025, with 35 fewer plan options available than in 2024.
While plan offerings are shrinking in around half of states, options will stay the same or grow in the other half.
California will have 44 more plans available in the state in 2025 than in 2024, and New York will see 39 new plan options.
