The foundation’s “2016 Election: Employee Benefit Issues” report included 486 responses from human resources and benefit professionals representing public, corporate/single and multiemployer plans. Surveyed organizations included U.S. employers from about 20 industries ranging from 50 to 10,000 employees.

1. Tax-favored status of employer-based health plans for employers — 87.2 percent
2. Increased access to mental healthcare — 84 percent
3. Expanded use and flexibility for health savings accounts — 82.1 percent
4. Elimination of preexisting condition exclusions — 72.8 percent
5. Essential health benefits as coverage standards — 71.6 percent
6. Government subsidies for low-income individuals buying health insurance — 69.3 percent
7. Individual health pools allowing individuals to band together to buy insurance — 69.3 percent
8. Legalized importation of prescription drugs from other countries — 67.7 percent
9. Mandated prescription drug caps on out-of-pocket spending for individuals — 63 percent
10. Coverage of adult dependents until age 26 — 62.8 percent
