CareOregon and SCAN Group have called off a proposed merger between the two nonprofit insurers, after state regulators expressed skepticism about the deal.

UnitedHealth Group, Centene and Cigna have recently completed major divestitures of assets outside the U.S. as the companies focus on domestic growth or core business operations.

UnitedHealth Group completed the sale of its health insurance and hospital operations in Brazil, the company said in regulatory documents filed Feb. 6. 

Hundreds of people, including physicians, patients and Oregon Senate Majority Whip Sara Gelser Blouin, have urged the state department of health to block Optum's proposed acquisition of Corvallis (Ore.) Clinic, the Corvallis Gazette-Times reported Feb. 8.
