CenterWell, Humana’s older adult-focused primary care business, has inked an agreement to acquire The Villages (Fla.) Health.

The Villages Health has filed for bankruptcy, according to a July 3 news release. Humana has entered a stalking horse agreement to purchase the provider’s assets.

In 2024, TVH found a problem with its Medicare billing practices, resulting in significant overpayments from the program. According to the news release, TVH anticipates owing “millions of dollars in overpayments and likely significant accompanying penalties.”

TVH’s resolution work with the federal government is being conducted separately from the transaction with Humana, according to the release.

CenterWell will acquire TVH’s eight primary care and two specialty clinics. The provider serves 55,000 patients in The Villages area. CenterWell operates more than 350 clinics.
