Walmart has held talks with Humana about a potential sale of its shuttered Walmart Health clinics, Fortune reported July 2.
Multiple sources familiar with the situation told Fortune that Walmart has held discussions with potential buyers for its clinics, including Humana, the only potential buyer named in the report. It is unclear if talks are ongoing, according to the publication.
In April, Walmart said it would close all 51 of its health centers in five states and shut down its virtual care platform. On June 28, Walmart sold its virtual care business, MeMD, to healthcare technology company Fabric.
The retailer cited a challenging reimbursement environment and rising costs as the reasons for the closures.
Humana owns more than 250 CenterWell clinics, which provide primary care to older adults. Walmart Health centers were located next to Walmart shopping centers. The majority of the clinics were in Texas and Florida.
Walmart and Humana declined to comment to Fortune.
