6 payers selling assets

From the sale of home health companies to several international divestitures, these are six payers that have recently sold assets:

  1. Humana said Aug. 11 it completed the sale of a 60 percent stake in its subsidiary Kindred at Home's hospice and personal care business to a private equity firm for $2.8 billion.

  2. Centene said July 25 it will sell its businesses in Spain and central Europe to private French hospital group Vivalto Santé for an undisclosed amount by the end of the year.

  3. Centene said July 14 it completed the sale of its specialty and rare drug pharmacy Pantherx to three investment firms. It announced the deal along with a seperate sale of Magellan Rx to Prime Therapeutics. The two deals were worth a total of $2.8 billion.

  4. Cigna said July 1 it completed the sale of its international insurance businesses in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan and Thailand to Chubb for $5.4 billion.

  5. CVS Health sold PayFlex Holdings to Millennium Trust Co. June 1 for an undisclosed amount. The deal includes a long-term commercial relationship with CVS' Aetna to maintain PayFlex as the payer's preferred provider of HSAs and other consumer-directed benefit solutions for existing and prospective members.

  6. Aetna International signed an agreement May 24 allowing Allianz Partners to take over its health insurance portfolio outside the Americas and India. Allianz Ayudhya also acquired 100 percent of Aetna Thailand.
