UnitedHealth Group’s highest-paid executive in 2025 was CEO Stephen Hemsley, bringing in nearly $61 million.

Executive transition was a key part of 2025 for the company. Mr. Hemsley took back the helm following Andrew Witty’s tenure. Mr. Hemsley’s executive compensation package included a one-time $60 million equity award and a full-year salary of $1 million. In addition, CFO John Rex departed, with Wayne DeVeydt taking over. 

UnitedHealthcare CEO Tim Noel and Optum CEO Patrick Conway, MD, deferred salary in 2025 through the executive savings plan.
