Premera Blue Cross has named Umar Farooq as chief strategy officer.
According to a Sept. 5 news release, Mr. Farooq was most recently president of Essence Health, a Medicare Advantage plan owned by health services company Lumeris.
Mr. Farooq previously held leadership roles at Commonwealth Care Alliance and Centene.
