Oregon taps Medicaid director

Oregon Health Plan — the state’s Medicaid program — has named Emma Sandoe, PhD, as director.

She will assume the role July 24, according to a May 23 Oregon Health Plan news release. Interim director Vivian Levy will serve as deputy director. 

Dr. Sandoe comes to Oregon Health Plan from North Carolina’s Medicaid program, where she served as deputy director of Medicaid policy, according to the release. In North Carolina she helped lead the passage and implementation of the state’s Medicaid expansion, which took effect in December. 

Oregan’s Medicaid program provides medical, dental and behavioral health coverage for 1.4 million residents.
