New York City-based VillageCare appointed Shaun Ruskin to serve as president and CEO of the organization and its managed care plan, VillageCareMAX.

VillageCare specializes in supporting older adults, those with chronic conditions and those seeking continuing care, offering at-home and community-based services. VillageCareMAX’s products include dual-eligible special needs, prescription drug and long-term care plans.

Mr. Ruskin joined VillageCare in 2010 and is the organization’s first new CEO since 2009, according to an April 1 news release. He most recently served as COO before jumping in as acting president and CEO following the retirement of former CEO Emma DeVito.

Between stints at VillageCare, Mr. Ruskin spent roughly three years as executive vice president and chief strategy officer at CenterLight Healthcare, a community-based care organization focused on older adults.
