UnitedHealth Group has named Charlie Baker to its board of directors.
According to a Nov. 3 news release, Mr. Baker is currently the president of the National College Athletic Association, and served as the governor of Massachusetts from 2015 to 2023.
Before becoming governor, Mr. Baker held cabinet positions in health and finance departments under two Massachusetts governors. He also has experience as a health plan executive, serving as CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care from 1999 to 2009.
“Charlie is an outstanding addition to our board given his proven track record in government and in leading businesses in the health sector, including care delivery and benefits," UnitedHealth Group Board Chair Stephen Hemseley said in the news release.
