Medical Mutual taps Cleveland Clinic CFO as new CEO

Medical Mutual of Ohio has named Steven Glass as president and CEO, effective Aug. 1.

Mr. Glass will succeed current president and CEO Rick Chiricosta and will also take a seat on the Cleveland-based company's board of directors, according to a May 19 news release.

Mr. Glass comes from Cleveland Clinic, where he was first hired in 2002. He was named CFO of the organization in 2005. Mr. Glass is responsible for the overall financial operations for the clinic and its subsidiaries across the globe. Prior to that, he was the vice president of finance for Columbia, Md.-based MedStar Health.

Mr. Chiricosta will stay on through the end of 2022 to assist Mr. Glass with the transition.

"I am pleased to welcome Steve to Medical Mutual," said Bob King, lead director of the company's board of directors. "His emphasis on quality, integrity and innovation was abundantly clear during the interview process. That, coupled with his extensive background in healthcare and his knowledge and understanding of the Ohio market, led to the board's decision. Medical Mutual's employees, members and customers are in very capable hands."
