Medicaid Health Plans of America names first director of state affairs

Medicaid Health Plans of America has named Corey Pleasants as its first director of state affairs.

Mr. Pleasants will be responsible for the group’s state-level advocacy through relationships with state government and associations, along with Medicaid managed care providers, according to an Oct. 20 news release.

Previously, he was director of regulatory and external affairs for Aetna’s Medicaid business in Virginia. He also served in several leadership roles in Virginia state government.

MHPA represents over 130 MCOs that represent 48 million Medicaid members across 40 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico.
