Wayne DeVeydt has resigned from Centene’s board of directors ahead of his upcoming role with UnitedHealth Group, according to an Aug. 4 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr. DeVeydt resigned Aug. 1, the same day UnitedHealth Group named him its new CFO, effective Sept. 2. He is joining the company from Bain Capital, where he served as a managing director and operating partner. John Rex, who has been UnitedHealth Group’s CFO since 2016, will become strategic advisor to CEO Stephen Hemsley on the same date.
Effective upon Mr. DeVeydt’s resignation, Centene’s board reduced the number of directors to 10, according to the filing.
Mr. DeVeydt had served on Centene’s board since January 2022.
