Former Optum exec joins PE firm

Optum’s former senior vice president of AI products and platforms Sanji Fernando has joined healthcare-focused private equity firm Frazier Healthcare Partners.

Mr. Fernando will serve as an operating partner for Frazier’s Center of Excellence Data & AI team, according to a June 13 Frazier news release. 

At Optum, Mr. Fernando launched United AI Studio, a platform enabling rapid experimentation and deployment of advanced machine learning across Optum and UnitedHealthcare, according to the release. He also founded Optum Labs’ Center for Applied Data Science.
