Mr. Smith currently serves as an operating advisor for private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, according to an Oct. 23 Humana news release. He previously served as co-president and co-COO of JPMorgan Chase from 2018 until his retirement in January 2022.
He spent 15 years at JPMorgan, where he also served as CEO of Consumer and Community Banking from 2012 to 2021, according to the release. He worked for American Express for more than 25 years before joining JPMorgan.
Humana Chairman Kurt Hilzinger said Mr. Smith election to the board will further enhance its “robust strategic oversight as the company continues to grow its Medicare Advantage and CenterWell health care services businesses, drive operational efficiencies, and create seamless, personalized consumer experiences, all of which will position Humana to deliver sustainable shareholder value over the long term.”
With Mr. Smith’s election, Humana now has 12 directors on its board.
