Former Aetna Medicaid president named AmeriHealth Caritas CEO

Kelly Munson has been named CEO of AmeriHealth Caritas.

Ms. Munson was most recently president of Aetna Medicaid. According to a Jan. 8 news release from AmeriHealth Caritas, she will take over as chief executive officer on Feb. 1. 

Ms. Munson succeeds interim CEO Thomas Hutton. Mr. Hutton has led the company since September, when previous CEO Paul Tufano stepped down. 

“AmeriHealth Caritas has achieved tremendous growth while remaining fully committed to its mission to help people get care, stay well and build healthy communities,” Ms. Munson said in the news release. “I look forward to joining the team and identifying new opportunities to extend this great work.” 

AmeriHealth Caritas has around 5 million members in 13 states. The company is jointly owned by Independence Blue Cross and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
