GuideWell, the parent company of Florida Blue, has named Brian Pieninck its next president and CEO, effective Oct. 1.
In his new role, Mr. Pieninck will also lead Florida Blue and oversee the strategic direction and performance of all subsidiaries, including Triple-S Management, the Blue Cross Blue Shield plan in Puerto Rico, according to an Aug. 4 Guidewell news release.
Mr. Pieninck succeeds Pat Geraghty, who announced in March that he would retire from Guidewell and Florida Blue after 14 years at the helm.
Mr. Pieninck is joining GuideWell from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, where he has served as president and CEO since 2018. CareFirst Vice President and CFO Ja’Ron Bridges will serve as interim CEO.
In addition to his role at CareFirst, Mr. Pieninck also serves as chairman of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association board of directors.
