Cigna names new insurance CEO amid leadership shuffle

The Cigna Group announced a series of leadership changes, including naming Brian Evanko president and CEO of Cigna Healthcare. 

Mr. Evanko will also continue his role as CFO for the Cigna Group, according to a Jan. 17 Cigna news release. As president and CEO of Cigna Healthcare, he will oversee all the segment's businesses, including U.S. commercial, international health and U.S. government. He has been with Cigna since 1998. 

U.S. Commercial President Mike Triplett will retire by the end of 2024 and will be succeeded by Bryan Holgerson. Mr. Holgerson has been with Cigna for more than 22 years and currently leads U.S. commercial national accounts and the underwriting team. As part of the transition plan, Mr. Triplett will assume the role of special advisor to the CEO, in which he will focus on solutions for key distribution channels.

Evernorth Health Services President and CEO Eric Palmer will take on the additional role of executive vice president for enterprise strategy for the Cigna Group. He will be responsible for mapping long-term growth strategy, expanding the health services business through merger and acquisition activity and spearheading innovation through the Cigna Group Ventures. He has been with Cigna for 26 years. 

Ann Dennison is joining the Cigna Group as deputy CFO, according to the release. She joins the company from Nasdaq, where she served as executive vice president and CFO.
