Bright Health Group names former Cigna exec to board

Bright Health Group announced March 1 that Matt Manders, former president of Cigna’s government and solutions arm, has joined its board of directors.

Mr. Manders, who had a 30-year tenure with Cigna, led its U.S. government market, including Medicaid, Medicare and individual offerings. 

“Matt is a highly accomplished, world-class leader who has served a critical role in delivering healthcare solutions directly to consumers and appreciates the power of aligning the financing and delivery of care,” said Mike Mikan, president and CEO of Bright Health Group. “We are excited to have Matt’s expertise on our board as we focus on operational excellence and seek to bring our innovative model of accessible and affordable healthcare to millions of people across the country.”

Mr. Manders’ appointment is effective immediately and brings the payer’s board to 12 members, 10 of whom are independent.
