Blue Cross of Idaho appoints CEO

Blue Cross of Idaho has named Paul Zurlo as the company’s next president and chief executive officer.

Current CEO Charlene Maher will step away from the role of president and CEO on Jan. 1 and serve in an advisory role through 2024, according to a release shared with Becker’s May 12. 

Mr. Zurlo has worked for Blue Cross of Idaho since 2016, most recently serving as president of health markets. 

Prior to joining Blue Cross of Idaho, Mr. Zurlo was vice president of business development for EmblemHealth, and previously held leadership roles at Pfizer, WellPoint and Empire BlueCross BlueShield.

“The healthcare industry has undergone rapid transition in the last decade,and I believe Blue Cross of Idaho can continue to fulfill our mission to Idaho and be the spearhead of transformational change in the Pacific Northwest,” Mr. Zurlo said in the release. 

Headquartered in Meridian, Idaho, Blue Cross of Idaho serves 577,800 members.
