BCBS Michigan names new CEO

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has named Tricia Keith as its next president and CEO, effective in 2025.

Ms. Keith is the first woman to lead the Detroit-based payer and currently serves as executive vice president, COO and president of emerging markets. She has been with the company since 2006, according to a May 15 news release.

She succeeds Daniel Loepp, who is retiring after leading the company for 17 years, one of the longest serving CEOs across all BCBS companies.

"There are powerful forces of change impacting health care at this moment – technology, drug and medical cost growth, industry consolidation and others," Ms. Keith said. "The role that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan plays as a champion of our members' health, and the affordability of their coverage and care, puts enormous responsibility on the shoulders of our company's CEO. I am humbled by the Board's confidence, and I'm excited and honored to assume this responsibility in January."
