Allina Health | Aetna is a joint-venture health plan that brings together Minneapolis-based Allina Health’s providers and Aetna’s national health benefits.

In his role, Dr. Wieland will oversee the executive leadership team and lead the company’s growth and innovation efforts. He will also continue to serve as CMO, where he is responsible for the strategic direction of care and medical management.

Before joining Allina Health | Aetna, Dr. Wieland served as Allina Health’s chief strategy officer.

Dr. Wieland replaces Tom Lindquist, who began serving as CEO in March 2018.

“With this leadership transition, the company is well-positioned to accelerate our work to deliver simple, connected health care to those we serve,” said Ric Magnuson, CFO of Allina Health and chair of the Allina Health | Aetna board. “We look forward to our next chapter under Bob’s leadership and continuing to bring innovative insurance products to market to provide unparalleled care coordination, ease of access, and simplified products to our members.”
