Before leading CMS’ health equity efforts, Dr. McIver led government affairs and advocacy for the American Diabetes Association, according to a July 24 news release.

“AHIP and our health insurance provider members have demonstrated a clear commitment to making health equity a part of everything we do, and with the addition of Dr. McIver to our leadership team, we are taking another important step in delivering on that priority,” AHIP President and CEO Matt Eyles said.

Dr. McIver’s appointment is effective immediately, according to the release.

“I am driven by ensuring that health equity becomes a natural part of how we think about and deliver healthcare,” Dr. McIver said. “That passion mirrors AHIP’s mission and I’m honored to join an organization with such a powerful voice in healthcare to continue building a more equitable, resilient healthcare system.”
