The agreement affects UnitedHealthcare members enrolled in employer-sponsored and individual commercial plans, as well as Medicare Advantage PPO and Group Retiree PPO plans, a spokesperson for the payer told the news outlet.

The deal came days after Providence sent an email to patients informing them that the two-sides had been unable to reach an agreement and the contract would be terminated if one was not reached by Jan. 1.
