According to the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, Elevance Health subsidiary Amerigroup, Community First Health Plans, El Paso Health, and Community Health Choice Texas were also awarded contracts.
Cigna’s HealthSpring, which manages one of the state’s 13 service areas, was the only payer not to be awarded a new contract by the state. The new contracts take effect in 2024.
