The deal, announced in an Oct. 4 BCBS news release emailed to Becker’s, comes as the health system was set to leave the payer’s network Oct. 3 without a new contract. The sides had been at odds over reimbursement rates.

Details of the contract were not included in the news release.

Southwestern Health Resources operates 29 hospitals, including Presbyterian in Dallas, Arlington Memorial and Harris Methodist in Fort Worth. In total, the system serves more than 7 million people through Texas Health Resources and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Combined, they have more than 5,500 physicians and other clinicians.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
