ProMedica's Paramount and McLaren St. Luke's settle lawsuit, ink contract

Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica and McLaren St. Luke's hospital reached a settlement in a contract dispute, meaning the hospital will treat ProMedica's Paramount Health Plan members in-network, McLaren said Oct. 11.

ProMedica, which owns Paramount Health Plan, said it would terminate the hospital in Maumee, Ohio, from its network in October 2020.

McLaren filed suit against ProMedica, alleging it violated antitrust laws by terminating its contract with the hospital.

The two organizations have settled the outstanding lawsuit. Paramount Medicare Advantage plan members will receive services in-network from McLaren St. Luke's starting Oct. 10. Additionally, McLaren St. Luke's employees will be able to receive in-network services from ProMedica providers.

"We are happy to have resolved our dispute and look forward to further exploring and potentially expanding our relationship with McLaren St. Luke's for the betterment of patient care in our community," ProMedica CEO Randy Oostra said in a news release.
