Phoenix Children's, Aetna strike deal

Phoenix Children's and Aetna have reached a new contract agreement.

According to an Oct. 6 news release from Phoenix Children's, the new contract agreement is retroactive to Aug. 7, the day after the previous contract expired.

"Phoenix Children's has a duty to our growing community to ensure payer agreements address the often-complex medical needs of kids and support the exceptional care we provide as Arizona's only pediatric health system," Phoenix Children's President and CEO Robert Meyer said in a news release. "We are proud to reach such an agreement with Aetna and to remain an in-network health system for Aetna members."

Phoenix Children's operates a 433-bed hospital and has more than 800 affiliated physicians.

"Our relationship with Phoenix Children's is long standing and we are pleased to be working with them to care for our members and deliver on our shared goal of improving health outcomes for children in the Phoenix community," John Wagner, Aetna's chief network officer for Arizona said.
