Pennsylvania has opened a special enrollment window for 5,400 UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage members affected by the contract dispute with Allentown-based Lehigh Valley Health Network, giving impacted beneficiaries until April 30 to switch plans.

The state said March 16 that it advocated directly to CMS to reopen enrollment for affected members. The contract between UnitedHealthcare and LVHN, part of Jefferson Health, expired Jan. 26.

During the special enrollment window, affected members can switch to a different MA plan or move to traditional Medicare and purchase a Medigap policy without underwriting.
