No ACA plans to cover Chicago’s Lurie Children’s in 2026

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago will not accept any ACA plans in 2026, according to the hospital’s website.

“Lurie Children’s is currently not contracted and out of network with all exchange plans inside and outside of Illinois,” the hospital’s page said.

Earlier this year, Aetna announced plans to exit the exchange, leaving the pediatric hospital with no remaining ACA agreements. Lurie will still accept Chicagoland’s Aetna CVS Health PPO individual and family plans until the end of 2025.

Urbana, Ill.-based Carle Health’s Health Alliance is shutting down, as well, leading Lurie to no longer take its commercial plan.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
