No reason for the cancellation was given in a Nov. 12 regulatory filing from Molina. The state has reopened the bidding process for the contracts, with bids due by Nov. 21. The new contracts are still expected to commence in some counties on January 1, 2026.

In October, the initial contracts went to Upper Peninsula Health Plan, Aetna Better Health of Michigan, Meridian Health Plan of Michigan (Centene), Molina Healthcare of Michigan, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, HAP CareSource, AmeriHealth Michigan, Priority Health Choice and Humana Medical Plan of Michigan.
